Habakkuk 2:4 (KJV): “Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.”
***
The prophet Habakkuk lived in a time of great turmoil. A time full of uncertainties, trials, and challenges. A time when wickedness seemed to prevail. When he couldn’t take it any longer, he cried out to God, seeking answers about the suffering of the righteous and the prosperity of the wicked. And then God responded with a profound truth: the just shall live by faith.
This verse is a call to trust in God, not in our own strength, wisdom, or circumstances. The “lifted-up soul” represents pride, self-reliance, and arrogance, which lead to destruction. However, the just – those who are made right with God – will live not by sight, not by fear, but by faith.
Faith is the anchor that keeps us steady in the storm. It is believing in God’s promises, even when we cannot see them yet. It is trusting that God is sovereign, just, and always working for our good.
Living by Faith Daily
Trust in God’s Word – No matter what the world says, God’s Word remains true. Meditate on His promises and stand firm on them.
Walk in Obedience – Faith is not just believing but acting on that belief. Live in obedience, even when it’s difficult.
Pray with Expectation – Prayer strengthens our faith. Approach God boldly, believing He hears and answers.
Stay Focused on Jesus – In Hebrews 12:2, we are reminded to fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. He is our perfect example of living by faith.
Final Thought
Are you facing a situation that seems impossible? Remember, the just shall live by faith. You don’t have to understand everything—just trust that God is in control. Keep believing, keep walking, and keep holding on. Your faith in Him will sustain you, guide you, and ultimately lead you to victory.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I choose to live by faith and not by sight. Strengthen me to trust in Your promises even when life is uncertain. Help me to walk in obedience, knowing that You are always in control. May my faith grow deeper every day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
