“Jesus answered, ‘Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.’” — John 3:3 (NIV)
***
Nicodemus, a Pharisee and religious teacher, came to Jesus at night seeking truth. Despite his religious knowledge and status, Jesus gave him a profound truth: “You must be born again.” This statement wasn’t about physical birth, but a spiritual one — a transformation that only God can bring.
Being “born again” isn’t about starting over with the same heart or habits. It’s about receiving a new heart. It’s not a call to self-improvement but a divine act of renewal. This spiritual rebirth happens when we receive Jesus as Lord and Savior, surrendering our old ways and allowing the Holy Spirit to make us new.
In modern life, many people try to “restart” or “rebrand” themselves — new careers, new cities, even new identities on social media. But none of these surface changes can reach the soul. Only Jesus can change us from the inside out.
Imagine someone who’s been in a toxic cycle — addiction, destructive relationships, or chronic hopelessness. Therapy helps, community helps — but transformation happens when they meet Jesus. I’ve seen men and women with broken pasts, stained reputations, and shattered dreams come to Jesus and find new life. They didn’t just get a second chance — they became new people.
When you’re born again, you begin to see the world differently. You hunger for God’s Word. You desire to love others. You walk with a new identity — no longer bound by sin but clothed in righteousness. It’s a mystery, yes — but a miracle too.
The new birth opens your eyes to the kingdom of God. It doesn’t mean you’ll be perfect, but it does mean you’ll be changed — from glory to glory, day by day.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I come to You today just as I am. I believe You died for my sins and rose again to give me new life. I ask You to forgive me, cleanse me, and make me new. I surrender my heart to You. Be my Savior and Lord. Fill me with Your Spirit and help me to live for You from this day forward. Thank You for saving me. Amen.
