1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NKJV):
“Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

Love is at the very heart of the Christian life. In 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, the Apostle Paul gives us a beautiful and challenging description of love, reminding us that true love is more than just words—it is action, attitude, and commitment.
Love is Patient. In a world of instant gratification, patience is rare. Yet, godly love teaches us to be long-suffering, to wait without frustration, and to bear with others’ faults, just as God patiently bears with us.
Love is Kind. Kindness is a reflection of God’s grace. Small acts of kindness—words of encouragement, a gentle touch, or a helping hand—demonstrate love in powerful ways. Kindness is love in action.
Love is Not Envious or Boastful. Love does not compete or seek to be superior. It is content and celebrates the success and blessings of others. When we love as Christ loves, we do not feel threatened by others’ achievements but rejoice with them.
Love is Humble. It is not puffed up with pride or arrogance. Jesus, the ultimate example of love, humbled Himself to serve others. When we walk in love, we put aside selfish ambition and choose humility.
Love Seeks the Good of Others. Love is not self-seeking; it does not demand its own way. Instead, it prioritizes the needs of others, just as Christ sacrificed Himself for us.
Love is Slow to Anger and Forgiving. It is not easily provoked and does not hold grudges. Love chooses to forgive, just as God has forgiven us through Christ.
Love Rejoices in Truth. It does not delight in wrongdoing but takes joy in righteousness and integrity. True love desires what is good, holy, and true.
Love Endures. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things. No matter the hardships, love remains steadfast, unwavering, and faithful. This is the kind of love God has for us—enduring, unshakable, and eternal.
Reflection: Are we walking in this kind of love daily? Do we show patience, kindness, and humility? Do we forgive readily and rejoice in truth? Let us ask God to help us love others as He loves us.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your perfect love. Help me to love as You do—with patience, kindness, humility, and endurance. Teach me to put others before myself, to rejoice in truth, and to reflect Your love in all I do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
